MTV first introduced Polizzi in Is She Really Going Out with Him?, a show that focused on women dating obnoxious or arrogant men. Polizzi and her beau, Justin, appeared in episode 14, "Jerz Pud". Polizzi became part of the reality TV series Jersey shore after responding to advertisement she saw about auditioning. Identified her as "the breakout member of the cast".
